This joint resolution cancels a rule from the Department of Energy that set stricter energy-saving standards for commercial refrigerators, freezers, and refrigerator-freezers. The rule, published on January 21, 2025, would have required this equipment to meet new efficiency standards by January 22, 2029. If this resolution passes, that rule would no longer be in effect, and the equipment would not have to meet those newer, stricter standards.
