1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using The Floor ("thefloorhq.com"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the platform.
2. Description of Service
The Floor is a nonpartisan civic engagement platform that allows users to vote on real U.S. House and Senate bills, compare their positions to their elected representatives and senators, and participate in community discussion. Bill data is sourced from official and public government records, including Congress.gov. The Floor is not affiliated with Congress, the U.S. government, or any government agency, and does not endorse any political party, candidate, or position.
3. User Accounts
You must create an account to vote on bills, comment, or access personalized features. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You agree to provide accurate information during registration, including your zip code for district lookup. You may only create one account per person.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Create multiple accounts or impersonate another person
- Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the platform
- Post comments that are threatening, harassing, defamatory, or illegal
- Attempt to manipulate vote counts or game the alignment system
- Interfere with the platform's operation or infrastructure
- Use the platform for commercial purposes without authorization
5. User Content
Comments and votes you submit are your own. By posting content, you grant The Floor a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display and distribute that content on the platform. We may remove content that violates these terms. Your votes and comments may be aggregated in anonymized statistics visible to other users.
6. Data Accuracy
Bill information, vote records, and representative data are sourced from Congress.gov and other official or public government records. While we strive for accuracy, we do not guarantee that all data is complete, current, or error-free. The Floor is not a substitute for official government records.
7. Intellectual Property
The Floor's design, branding, and original content are owned by The Floor. Congressional data sourced from government APIs is in the public domain. You may not reproduce or redistribute our proprietary content without permission.
8. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these terms, without prior notice. You may delete your account from the mobile app Profile screen or request deletion by contacting us at desk@thefloorhq.com. Account deletion instructions are available at /account-deletion.
9. Disclaimers
The Floor is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not responsible for any decisions you make based on information displayed on the platform. Alignment scores and leaderboard rankings are calculated from publicly available voting data and user-submitted votes; they are informational, not evaluative.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Floor and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform.
