This joint resolution takes back a special permission that was given to California's Air Resources Board, which allowed the state to set its own stricter pollution rules for certain heavy-duty trucks, off-road diesel engines, and diesel-powered equipment starting with 2024 models and newer. Under federal law, California can ask for special permission to create its own emission rules that are different from national standards. This resolution cancels that permission by undoing a specific decision made by the Environmental Protection Agency that had approved California's request.
