STEAM Act

This bill makes it easier and faster to drill geothermal wells by reducing environmental review requirements. The bill allows certain geothermal drilling projects to skip some environmental assessments that are normally required under federal law. This applies to drilling in areas where drilling happened in the past five years, or in areas where previous environmental reviews already considered drilling likely to occur within the past five years.
