Chiquita Canyon Tax Relief Act

This bill would make certain payments tax-free for people affected by a landfill problem in Los Angeles County, California. The landfill had elevated temperatures starting in May 2022, and people who received money from the government or from Waste Connections, Inc. as compensation for losses or problems caused by this event would not have to pay federal income tax on those payments. The tax-free treatment applies to payments received on or after March 1, 2024.
