Forest Data Modernization Act of 2025

This bill tells the Forest Service to expand and update its Forest Inventory and Analysis program, which collects information about the condition of America's forests. The program will now have to include forest carbon data in addition to information about wildfires and other forest management issues. The Forest Service must update its strategic plan within six months and then every five years, including plans for consistent data collection and expanded use of remote sensing technology. The program must also publish forest statistics every two years, continue existing surveys of timber products and woodland owners, and create a system to handle complex data requests from outside organizations that may include charging fees.
