SHIELD Act of 2025

This bill creates new federal crimes for sharing certain sexual images without permission. The first crime involves knowingly sharing or threatening to share intimate images of adults engaged in sexual conduct without their consent, when the sharing is meant to cause harm or actually causes harm. The second crime involves knowingly sharing or threatening to share nude images of minors with intent to abuse, humiliate, harass, or degrade the minor, or to sexually arouse someone. People who break these laws can face fines, up to two years in prison for the first crime or up to three years for the second crime, must pay money to victims, and can have their property taken away.
