OPIOIDS Act

This bill creates and updates grant programs to help deal with opioid overdoses. It lets the Department of Justice give money to states and local areas to better track and collect data on opioid overdoses, and to help law enforcement, forensic labs, and medical examiners' offices in communities hit hard by drug overdoses through training, equipment, and staffing. It also requires federal training centers to help local law enforcement work better with state and federal partners on tracking drug activity, allows certain policing grant money to be used for protecting first responders from accidental fentanyl exposure, and directs the Drug Enforcement Administration to create standard ways of reporting drug control information and to budget for a program that analyzes fentanyl samples.
