Water Systems PFAS Liability Protection Act

This bill would protect certain water management organizations from being held legally responsible for releases of PFAS chemicals under federal environmental law. The protected entities include public water systems, treatment plants, municipalities with stormwater permits, state water agencies, and their contractors. The protection only applies if these entities handle PFAS according to existing laws while managing water or disposing of materials like biosolids. However, they can still be held liable if they act with gross negligence or willful misconduct.
