Fighting Trade Cheats Act of 2025

This bill increases penalties for people who break U.S. customs laws when importing goods. For fraudulent violations, the maximum fine increases to three times the value of the merchandise, and violators are banned from importing goods for five years. For grossly negligent violations, the maximum fine increases to either three times the merchandise value or 10 times the required duties and fees (whichever is less), and violators are banned from importing for two years. The import bans also apply to people connected to the violator, such as family members or employees. The bill allows affected parties like manufacturers to sue violators in court and prevents violators from participating in certain customs programs.
