College Thriving Act

This bill requires the Department of Education to give competitive grants to colleges and universities to provide skills-for-success courses for all first-year students, including transfer students. These courses must have small class sizes, be ungraded or pass-fail, and teach topics like time management, stress coping, and goal setting. The Department of Education must prioritize giving grants to schools where at least half of the students received Federal Pell Grants in the most recent school year.
