Protecting Life from Chemical Abortions Act

This bill would cancel changes the FDA made in January 2023 to rules about dispensing mifepristone, a drug used to end pregnancies. The FDA had removed a requirement that patients pick up the medication in person at clinics, medical offices, or hospitals, and instead allowed certified retail pharmacies to fill prescriptions by mail. The bill would bring back the in-person requirement and stop the FDA from using enforcement discretion or reducing safety requirements until all states report certain abortion data to the CDC. The bill also prohibits declaring public health emergencies related to abortions.
