PIIA Reform Act

This bill creates a new federal position called the "Overpayment Czar" within the Office of Management and Budget to help government agencies prevent improper payments and fraud. Federal agencies would be required to identify programs that are likely to make wrong payments, especially new programs in their first four years that spend over $100 million. Agencies that don't follow the rules for reducing improper payments would face financial penalties through reduced funding. States receiving federal money for programs like Medicaid and unemployment must use approved tools to reduce overpayments.
