Medical Device Electronic Labeling Act

This bill would let medical device companies provide directions and warning labels electronically instead of on paper for all medical devices. Currently, only certain medical devices used by doctors and hospitals can have electronic labels. Under this bill, all medical devices could have electronic-only labels as long as users can easily access them, can request paper copies for free, and the device packaging still has required basic information. The Food and Drug Administration could make additional rules about these electronic labels.
