Erie Canal Bicentennial Commemorative Coin Act

This bill requires the Department of the Treasury to create and sell special coins to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Erie Canal. The coins must feature designs that represent the Erie Canal and its importance to the development of the United States and New York. Money from the sale of these coins would include an extra charge that goes to the Erie Canalway Heritage Fund, Inc., which would use it to help preserve historic sites, support community development along the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor in New York, and fund educational and commemorative programs.
