American Dream and Promise Act of 2025

This bill creates a way for certain people who are not U.S. citizens to become permanent residents. It mainly covers people who came to the United States as children and meet specific requirements, like having been in the country continuously since January 1, 2021, passing a background check, and being enrolled in or having finished certain educational programs. People with temporary protected status or deferred enforced departure status may also qualify for permanent residency if they apply within three years. The bill also removes a rule that stopped states from offering college benefits to undocumented individuals unless those same benefits were offered to all U.S. citizens regardless of what state they live in.
