Sustainable Aviation Fuel Act

This bill sets a goal for airplane flights to produce no net greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. It requires the Environmental Protection Agency to create standards that would reduce emissions from airplane fuel by at least 20% by 2030 and 50% by 2050 compared to 2005 levels. The bill provides tax credits and other incentives to encourage production and use of sustainable aviation fuel, which is an alternative airplane fuel made from sustainable sources that produces fewer greenhouse gas emissions. Starting in 2026, the Department of Defense would be required to buy sustainable aviation fuel for at least 10% of its airplane fuel purchases under certain conditions.
