TREATS Act

This bill makes permanent a rule that lets doctors prescribe certain addiction treatment medicines through telehealth without seeing patients in person first. Right now, doctors can prescribe these controlled substances for treating substance use disorders through video or phone calls, but this permission expires on December 31, 2025. The bill would make this telehealth option permanent for schedule III, IV, and V controlled substances used to treat addiction. Doctors could use either phone calls alone or video calls to evaluate patients before prescribing these medicines.
