Justice for ALS Veterans Act of 2025

This bill changes the rules for financial support given to surviving spouses of veterans who died from ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). Currently, surviving spouses only get increased payments if the veteran was totally disabled for at least eight continuous years before death. Under this bill, surviving spouses of veterans who died from ALS would get these increased payments regardless of how long the veteran had the disease. The surviving spouse must have been married to the veteran for at least eight continuous years before the veteran's death. The Department of Veterans Affairs would also have to study other disabilities that should be treated the same way as ALS for these payments.
