CLEAN Act

This bill requires the Department of the Interior to hold sales for geothermal energy leases on federal land at least once a year, instead of every two years, in states where companies have applied to lease land for geothermal energy projects. When these sales are held, the government must offer all the land parcels that have been nominated and are eligible for geothermal development. If a scheduled lease sale is canceled or delayed, a replacement sale must be held within the same year. The bill also sets deadlines for the government to respond to applications for permits to drill for geothermal energy.
