HEARD Act of 2025

This bill creates grants and programs through the Department of Health and Human Services to study and address rare diseases in racial and ethnic minority communities. Rare diseases are those that affect fewer than 200,000 people in the United States. The bill would provide funding for data collection, public outreach, training health care workers, research at tribal health centers, and scholarships for medical students who agree to work with rare disease patients. It also requires the government to write reports to Congress about rare disease research in minority populations and barriers to treatment.
