SECURE Notarization Act of 2025

This bill lets notaries — people authorized to officially witness the signing of documents — do their job remotely using video chat and electronic records instead of requiring everyone to be in the same room. It sets rules for how these remote notarizations must work, including recording the video and audio of the session. The bill also requires courts and all states to accept notarizations done remotely or electronically by a notary from another state, as long as the transaction involves business across state lines. It also allows notaries to remotely notarize documents for people located outside the United States, as long as certain rules are followed.
