Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2025

This bill would require that when regular people (not gun shops or dealers) sell or give a firearm to another person, a licensed gun dealer, manufacturer, or importer must first take the firearm and run a background check before the transfer can happen. Right now, private sales between individuals don't always require a background check. The bill does make some exceptions, such as when a spouse gives a firearm as a gift to their husband or wife.
