Disaster Mitigation and Tax Parity Act of 2025

This bill would let people avoid paying federal income taxes on money they get from state programs to make their homes safer from disasters. Currently, people don't have to pay taxes on money from certain federal disaster programs, but they do have to pay taxes on money from state programs for the same purpose. The bill would change this so that money from state programs to help people protect their property from windstorms, earthquakes, floods, or wildfires would also be tax-free. The money received would not increase the property's value for tax purposes.
