Risky Research Review Act

This bill creates a new government board called the Life Sciences Research Security Board to review certain types of biological research before the government gives money for it. The board would focus on "high-risk" research, which means studying organisms, viruses, or related products that could be dangerous if misused or that could make deadly diseases like Ebola more contagious or harmful. Scientists who want government funding would have to tell the board if their research is high-risk, and the board would decide whether the research can get funding and what safety rules must be followed. Government agencies could not give money for this type of research without the board's approval, and researchers who don't properly describe their work could lose their ability to get government funding.
