Fairness in Veterans’ Education Act

This bill changes how the Department of Veterans Affairs pays back money to service members and veterans. These people had paid to keep benefits under the Montgomery GI Bill but later switched to using Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits. Currently, the VA can only give these repayments with the last monthly housing payment, which limits who can get paid back. The bill would require the VA to make these repayments before a person uses up all their education benefits.
