BLOC Act

This bill would stop the Department of Transportation from giving federal money for infrastructure and highway projects to local governments that don't follow certain immigration-related rules. Specifically, it requires local government agencies to notify the Department of Homeland Security at least 48 hours before releasing someone from custody who has been identified as not being lawfully present in the United States. This requirement applies when DHS has already told the local agency about the person's status and the person has been held in custody for at least 48 hours. Local governments that don't have these notification rules in place within one year of the bill becoming law would lose access to that federal transportation funding.
