American Cargo for American Ships Act

This bill would require that all equipment, materials, and goods bought or paid for by the Department of Transportation must be shipped on American-flagged ships when transported by ocean. Currently, only 50% of federally funded ocean cargo must use American-flagged ships. The new rule would apply to both the Department of Transportation directly and to organizations that receive DOT funding, as long as American-flagged ships are available at fair prices.
