LAND Act

This bill would create new rules for foreign people and companies buying farmland in the United States. Foreign buyers would have to follow the same restrictions that Americans face when buying farmland in the foreign buyer's home country. They would also have to follow any state laws about land purchases. When someone sells farmland to a foreign buyer, they must report the sale to the Department of Agriculture, which will then notify the senators and representative from that area. The bill would also create a task force led by the Secretary of Agriculture to find violations of these rules and report to Congress twice a year about foreign farmland purchases.
