State Immigration Enforcement Act

This bill would allow state and local governments to make and enforce their own laws that punish the same things that federal immigration law already makes illegal. These state and local laws could not have punishments that are worse than what federal law already requires. The bill would also remove a current federal rule that stops states and cities from making laws that punish employers for hiring workers who are not legally allowed to work in the United States.
