Mink VIRUS Act

This bill would ban mink farming for fur starting one year after it becomes law. The Department of Agriculture must create a payment program to compensate mink farm owners for their costs to follow the new rules and for the value of their farming operations, but not the land itself. Farm owners who receive payments must give the government a permanent easement that prevents any future fur farming on their property. The bill also requires that any mink that are put down must be killed humanely using methods approved by veterinarians, and farm owners can face fines if they don't follow these rules.
