Sustainable Budget Act of 2025

This bill creates a new commission called the National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform. The commission's job is to find ways to improve the government's finances and make spending sustainable over time. The commission must come up with ideas to balance the federal budget (not counting debt interest payments) within 10 years and fix long-term money problems, including how much the government spends on programs like Social Security and Medicare compared to how much money it brings in. Congress has to follow special fast-track rules when considering the commission's suggestions.
