Rural Broadband Protection Act of 2025

This bill requires the Federal Communications Commission to create a process to check applicants before giving them money for broadband internet projects in expensive areas like rural communities. The FCC must make rules that require applicants to show they have the technical skills, money, and business plans needed to actually build broadband networks. The FCC will judge applications using clear standards and will look at whether applicants have followed the rules in other government broadband programs before. Only applicants that meet these standards can get funding, and the FCC must set financial penalties for applicants that fail during the review process.
