Modern, Clean, and Safe Trucks Act of 2025

This bill would eliminate the 12% tax that the federal government currently charges when heavy trucks, trailers, and tractors are sold for the first time. This tax applies to large commercial vehicles that weigh more than a certain amount and are used on highways. The money from this tax currently goes into the Highway Trust Fund, which pays for road and transportation projects. Under current law, this tax is set to end in October 2028, but this bill would eliminate it sooner.
