Health Care PRICE Transparency Act

This bill requires hospitals and health insurance plans to share information about their costs with the public. Hospitals must publish their standard prices, the rates they negotiate with insurance companies, cash payment discounts, and billing codes for services that can be scheduled ahead of time. Insurance plans must publish what they charge for covered services both in-network and out-of-network, plus the negotiated prices for prescription drugs. Insurance plans also must provide a search tool so consumers can look up cost information and allow people to request details about specific services under their plans.
