Family Notification of Death, Injury, or Illness in Custody Act of 2025

This bill requires the Department of Justice to create rules for how to contact a person's family or emergency contacts if that person dies, gets seriously sick, or is seriously injured while being held in custody. The Department of Justice must follow these rules at its own detention facilities and also share them with state, tribal, territorial, and local detention agencies so they can use them as a guide.
