REMAIN in Mexico Act of 2025

This bill would require the Department of Homeland Security to restart the Migrant Protection Protocols from 2019. Under these protocols, people who arrive at the U.S.-Mexico border by land and are not clearly allowed to enter the country, including those seeking asylum, must wait in Mexico while their immigration cases are processed instead of staying in the United States. The Department of Homeland Security stopped using these protocols for new arrivals in January 2021.
