To authorize, ratify, and confirm the Agreement of Settlement and Compromise to Resolve the Akwesasne Mohawk Land Claim in the State of New York, and for other purposes.

This bill settles a land dispute involving the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe in northern New York. The bill approves an agreement between the tribe, New York state, local counties and towns, and the New York Power Authority that gives land rights back to the tribe and requires annual payments to the tribe. The settlement also provides tuition help for tribal members to attend college. Any land the tribe owns or buys in certain areas will be recognized as Indian country for legal purposes.
