Haliwa Saponi Indian Tribe of North Carolina Act

This bill would give the Haliwa Saponi Indian Tribe of North Carolina full federal recognition as a tribe. Once recognized, the tribe and its members would be eligible for the same services and benefits that other federally recognized tribes receive, even without having a reservation. The tribe's service area would include six counties in North Carolina: Halifax, Warren, Nash, Franklin, Vance, and Granville. The bill also allows the Department of the Interior to take land into trust for the tribe and create a reservation for them.
