Drone Espionage Act

This bill updates the Espionage Act, which is a law that makes it a crime to collect or share information related to national defense in ways that could hurt the United States or help a foreign country. Right now, the law covers things like photographs, maps, blueprints, and written notes, but it does not specifically mention video. This bill adds video to the list of ways someone can illegally obtain or share national defense information. Anyone who breaks this law could face a fine, up to 10 years in prison, or both.
