SAFE STEPS for Veterans Act of 2025

This bill requires the Department of Veterans Affairs to create a new Office of Falls Prevention to help reduce falls among veterans. The office will run education campaigns for veterans, families, and healthcare providers about fall prevention and available VA services. The bill also adds the VA to a committee that works on healthy aging issues and requires the VA to update its policies on safe patient handling. Additionally, the VA must study whether to start a pilot program that would make home improvements to prevent falls for eligible veterans and ensure certain veterans get fall risk assessments from physical or occupational therapists.
