Strengthening Medicaid for Serious Mental Illness Act

This bill would let states use Medicaid money to pay for intensive mental health services in the community for adults with serious mental illnesses. These services include 24/7 treatment teams, job support, peer support, mobile crisis help, case management, and housing support. The services are aimed at adults who might become homeless, need psychiatric crisis care, go to the hospital, or get involved with the criminal justice system. The bill also gives states money to plan for these services and provides extra federal funding to help states pay for them.
