Fire Department Repayment Act of 2025

This bill creates rules for agreements between federal, state, and local governments when they share the costs of fighting wildfires that cross different areas. The Departments of Agriculture, Interior, Homeland Security, and Defense must set up standard procedures for how quickly payments are made under these cost-sharing agreements. The departments must also review existing agreements within a year and change them if needed to follow the new procedures. The new rules require that cost-sharing agreements match up with other fire protection agreements, and federal agencies must pay back local fire departments when they submit proper invoices.
