Prosecutors Need to Prosecute Act

This bill requires certain state and local prosecutors to report data about serious crimes to the federal government. The requirement applies to prosecutors in areas with 380,000 or more people that receive certain federal grant money. They must report information about cases involving murder, rape, robbery, assault, burglary, theft, car theft, arson, and gun crimes. The reports must include data on which cases prosecutors decided to pursue, which they declined, plea agreements, repeat offenders, and information about defendants who were released on bail.
