Modernizing All Veterans and Survivors

This bill requires the Department of Veterans Affairs to improve its computer systems for processing veteran claims and benefits. The VA must create a plan for an automation tool that can automatically gather veteran records, compile evidence, help make decisions, and generate letters about claims. Within one year, VA offices handling pension and survivor benefits must have tools that at least help generate correspondence. The VA must also set up systems to alert claims processors when a veteran's child dependency payments increase or when educational assistance is paid to a veteran's child. Finally, the VA must submit a plan to make sure documents are properly labeled when uploaded to their computer system.
