National Prescribed Fire Act of 2025

This bill requires the Department of Agriculture and the Department of the Interior to increase the use of planned, controlled burns on federal lands, growing the total area burned by 10% each year for 10 years. It sets up a program to give money to groups that carry out these controlled burns in important areas and allows the government to team up with states, tribes, local governments, and private groups to get the work done. The bill also calls for hiring more workers trained in controlled burns, expanding hazard pay, supporting underrepresented groups, and creating more training centers. The Environmental Protection Agency is directed to work with state, tribal, and local air quality agencies to review the health and safety effects of the increased burning.
