Rural Veterans’ Improved Access to Benefits Act of 2025

This bill extends and expands a pilot program that lets the Department of Veterans Affairs hire non-VA health care professionals to do disability examinations for veterans. Currently, only certain professionals like doctors, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, audiologists, and psychologists can be hired for these exams. The bill adds more types of health care workers to this list, including hospital directors, dentists, and pharmacists. The program, which was set to expire, would now continue until January 2031.
