Research for Healthy Soils Act

This bill makes research on microplastics and PFAS chemicals in farm soil materials a high priority for the Department of Agriculture. Microplastics are tiny plastic pieces smaller than 5 millimeters, and PFAS are man-made chemicals that may harm human health. The bill allows grants for research on ways to remove these substances from materials like treated sewage and compost that farmers use on their land. It also extends funding through 2031 for various agricultural research programs, including studies on bee health, food safety training, and crop diseases.
