State Public Option Act

This bill would let people who don't qualify for Medicaid and don't have other health insurance buy into their state's Medicaid program starting in 2026, if their state chooses to offer this option. States could set premiums and cost-sharing for this coverage within certain limits. The bill also gives states a higher federal matching rate when they expand Medicaid to cover more people under the Affordable Care Act, and requires state Medicaid programs to cover sexual and reproductive health care services, including abortion services.
