FIT Procurement Act

This bill makes several changes to how the federal government buys goods and services and trains the people who handle that purchasing. It requires certain agencies to create training programs for government buyers, including training on technology and artificial intelligence, and sets up a pilot program to add hands-on learning to federal certification programs. The bill also directs officials to make it easier for small businesses and newer companies to compete for government contracts, in part by accepting a wider range of past work experience. Additionally, it raises the dollar limits for simpler purchasing methods — for example, increasing the threshold for basic purchases from $250,000 to $500,000 and for very small purchases from $10,000 to $25,000 — meaning the government can use less complex buying procedures for more of its purchases.
